Preparing for Your 2014 Conflict Minerals Filings

Complimentary Webinar, Tuesday, November 19, 2013,
8:00am-9:00am PDT (11:00am-12:00pm EDT, 4:00am-5:00pm GMT)

As the first year of the SEC Conflict Minerals work closes, it is time to begin to finalize your conflict minerals supply chain inquiries and commence your preparations for the May 2014 filings. In anticipation of the large volume of data you are undoubtedly beginning to evaluate, Foresite is pleased to announce the next installment of our popular webinar series, Preparing for Your 2014 Conflict Minerals Filings, Tuesday November 19, 2013 from 8:00AM-9:00AM PDT (11:00AM-12:00PM EDT, 4:00PM-5:00PM GMT).

Those of us working on conflict minerals over the last year have become accustomed to the significant data challenges and heavy administrative burden associated with cleansing inbound survey responses. The next challenging step is to logically document the results of your Conflict Minerals Surveys so as to demonstrate your company’s efforts to conduct a Good Faith Reasonable Country of Origin Inquiry. To support these processes, Foresite will be reviewing the dominant recurring issues we have seen during the course of the year.

During the session, we will:

  • Discuss the data formatting issues associated with suppliers providing corrupted Excel templates as outbound EICC/GeSI responses.
  • Review the challenges associated with tracking downstream sources in multi-level supply chains and validating whether those sources are true metal smelters/refiners.
  • Provide examples of the documentation of your process and how that process aligns to demonstration a RCOI.
  • Discuss the necessary supporting information required to demonstrate an Undeterminable declaration to the SEC and to investors.
  • Illustrate key activities you need to support your forthcoming ‘independent third party audit’ and process gap analysis in advance of your filing.

We have been working with many major corporations on Conflict Minerals and we invite your feedback and questions. In addition, we look forward to continuing our on-going conflict minerals work next year, as we apply the lesson’s learned and seek to improve the quality and quantity of the available conflict minerals data.
